The Visegrad Scholarship Program
On 31 January 2010 we mark the 7th anniversary of the first deadline of the Visegrad Scholarship Program.
Established in 2003 with the aim to foster academic mobility in the Visegrad Group countries (the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia), the program grew to become one of the biggest scholarship providers in Central and Eastern Europe, the Western Balkans and the South Caucasus. To date we have awarded more than 750 individual scholarships in the total amount of over EUR 5.5 million.
In 2010 we continue with the Out-Going Scholarships scheme enabling Master’s and Post-Master’s scholars from Western Balkan countries–such as Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia and Montenegro–to study at accredited public or private universities in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland or Slovakia. Selected scholars receive a stipend of EUR 2,300 per semester (and, if residing more than 1,500km from the host university, are also eligible for a travel grant). At the same time, every accredited Western Balkan host university gets awarded a lump sum of EUR 1,500 per semester for every scholar from the Visegrad Group countries that it hosts. Please note that the same rules also apply to Kosovar scholars and universities.
